You Don’t Have to Do This Alone: Finding Your People as a New Dad in DFW

A lot of new fathers try to do this completely on their own. It doesn’t have to be that way, and honestly, it works better when it isn’t.

Why Community Matters More Than You Think

Fatherhood research consistently shows that men with a stable peer community around them handle the stress of new parenthood better, show up more consistently for their kids, and report higher satisfaction in the role. This isn’t just a nice idea; it’s a documented protective factor against everything from paternal burnout to disengagement.

Rooted Fatherhood — Right Here at PPC

Rooted Fatherhood is our own ongoing group for dads who want to grow not just as fathers, but as men. Each session includes a short video and honest conversation with other dads walking a similar road. No pressure to perform, no expectation you have it figured out. Groups meet regularly at our Southwest Dallas location, with sessions elsewhere in the works.

  • Buckner Family Hope Centers — Buckner International is a faith-based ministry that’s been serving Texas families since 1879. Their fatherhood coaching runs through the 24/7 DAD curriculum, a structured, evidence-based program led by trained facilitators, paired with one-on-one family coaching. They serve both Dallas and Fort Worth, and this is one of the strongest options in the metroplex if you want real coaching, not just conversation.
  • Watermark’s Dad U — A biblical fatherhood equipping ministry out of Watermark Community Church in Dallas, open to men at every stage from expecting fathers to dads of grown kids. Monthly gatherings dig into a specific fatherhood topic through Scripture, taught by dads who’ve walked the road ahead of you.
  • Gateway Men — Gateway Church’s men’s ministry, with groups across their DFW campuses built around discipleship, mentorship, and brotherhood — fatherhood is one part of a bigger picture of what it means to lead your home well.
  • Daddy Stroller Social Club — Not a church program, but a DFW-born community that’s grown into a national movement, built specifically around fatherhood and mental health. It started because its founder recognized he was walking through the same postpartum struggle his wife was — and realized dads didn’t have anywhere to take that. They meet locally for stroller walks and events built around real, honest conversation between fathers.

We don’t run any of these — but we’ll gladly point you to them, because the goal was never for men to only connect through us. The goal is for you to actually have people.

If Groups Aren’t Your Thing Yet

Not everyone is ready to walk into a room of strangers. That’s fine. Our Fatherhood Coaching Program pairs you with one coach for one-on-one conversation every two weeks, from pregnancy through your baby’s first birthday. It’s a smaller door into the same thing: not being alone in this.
