The cost of an abortion depends on how far along you are in your pregnancy. In order to determine that, you will need an ultrasound to determine both the viability and dating of your pregnancy. You can schedule an appointment online here for a pregnancy test and ultrasound, as well as abortion consultation. All of our services are free of charge, and we also allow walk-in appointments during our normal business hours.

Yes. Make an appointment for a second free pregnancy test. The HCG hormone doubles every 2–3 days during early pregnancy and peaks at 8–11 weeks from the first day of your last period.

At Prestonwood Pregnancy Center, we provide lab-quality pregnancy tests and ultrasounds by medically trained professionals at no charge to our clients. With pregnancy confirmation and an understanding of where you are in your pregnancy, you will be prepared to make an informed decision. Even if you have pregnancy symptoms or have taken a home test, you should confirm your pregnancy with a medical-quality pregnancy test and an ultrasound. A pregnancy may be detected as early as 7–10 days after conception.

Be aware that up to 25% of pregnancies end in natural miscarriage. Actual rates may be higher, as many women miscarry before knowing they are pregnant.

No, you do not need to bring an adult with you to your appointment. You can book an appointment at Prestonwood Pregnancy Center to confirm your pregnancy, have an ultrasound to determine how far along you are, and meet with someone to talk through all of your options.

All services are free and no insurance is required. Appointments are confidential, and during your appointment you will talk to someone who is experienced and trained in working through the different options available to someone facing an unplanned pregnancy.

Although you may be seeking your parents’ support, remember that ultimately this is your decision, and whatever you choose will have long-term implications. In the state of Texas, even if you are a minor, pregnancy leads to medical emancipation—meaning that you, with the help of your doctor, can make your own decisions about your prenatal healthcare.

Prestonwood Pregnancy Center offers limited STI/STD testing and treatment on-site at the center. Sexual activity not only puts you at risk for pregnancy but also for sexually transmitted infections (STI) and sexually transmitted diseases (STD). It’s important to ensure that you safeguard yourself, regardless of your intention for your pregnancy. If you are sexually active, you should be tested for STI/STDs on a regular basis.

STI and STD: What’s the difference?

The term STI is used to describe an infection in the body, which may or may not be accompanied by symptoms. The term STD describes an infection that has caused damage in a person’s body. STDs may or may not be accompanied by symptoms. Many STDs can cause damage to you and your partner.

When you give birth or have an abortion, your cervix can be exposed to any infection you may have contracted, making you vulnerable to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). PID causes constant pelvic pain, infertility problems, and, if untreated, can lead to death. In addition, you can spread the disease anytime you engage in sexual activity.

If you are considering an abortion, it is important to get tested for STD/STI first.

Treatment

Some STIs/STDs can be treated and cured with medications, but early detection is key for effective treatment. Other STIs/STDs cannot be cured, but symptoms can be managed. If you think you have an STI/STD, call now to discuss your concerns.

Prestonwood Pregnancy Center offers limited STI/STD testing and treatment on-site at the center.

“Abortion pill” is the common name for two different medicines that are used together to terminate a pregnancy: mifepristone and misoprostol. It is also called RU486 and is often referred to as a medical or chemical abortion.

Medical abortions are a three-stage process. First, you need to have a sonogram to date your pregnancy and ensure that the pregnancy is viable. You can make an appointment online for a free sonogram.

If you meet the qualifications, you immediately take a pill called mifepristone. Pregnancy requires a hormone called progesterone for normal, healthy growth. Mifepristone blocks your body’s own progesterone, stopping the pregnancy from growing.

Then, within 24 to 48 hours of returning home, you take a second medicine, misoprostol. This medicine causes the pregnancy to be expulsed from your uterus. There are many side effects that can be discussed during your appointment. Follow-up medical care is critical, to ensure that there are no complications.

You cannot get the abortion pill over the counter. It must be prescribed by a physician. In fact, the FDA warns against purchasing abortion-inducing drugs online. This puts the patient at risk of taking a drug that has not been approved by the FDA.

For more information on the abortion pill and other options, please make an appointment at Prestonwood Pregnancy Center.
